DESCRIPTION

COMING SOON: Celtic F.C.’s first Black player, Gil Heron, has been celebrated in Glasgow for decades. While his career at Parkhead was short, he continued to play in the UK for over 3 years. Prior to that journey across the sea, Heron was a top player in the Midwest, starting out as a young Jamaican immigrant in Cleveland, before playing for semi-professional and fully professional teams in Detroit and Chicago. Gil’s achievements on the field were immense, and the father of Rock n Roll Hall of Famer Gil Scott-Heron’s personal soccer journey goes well beyond what he did on the soccer field.
