On August 4, 2026 at 6:30 PM in Logan Square, The Back of the Net Book Club will be discussing Ron Ferguson's 1991 book Black Diamonds and the Blue Brazil.
The book is a discussion of the Cowdenbeath FC soccer team in the "Chicago of Fife" coal mining region of Scotland. Ferguson tells the story of the team's unique nickname, the board room machinations that go into the running of a lower division soccer team as well as the extensive history of the Cowdenbeath FC club.
